June 5, 1944:
Operation Overlord begins tomorrow. We received the message from an M.T.B. that departure is at 12.30. My heart years to fight, yet I am still unwilling. I know that it is my duty to divide my fear from my resolve and yet I seem to not have the will. Since my father's death I have had a yearning to enact my vengeance, but how does one bring down an ideology? The lives of many have been lost in pursuit of this goal. Our enemy feels as I do, that they must be avenged and so I know my resolve must be certain. Tomorrow shall be a day of death and a day of glory. Whether for me or the enemy, I know not.
