Ramona is the daughter of an African-American US soldier and a German. She grew up with foster parents who recognized her talent and made her private singing lessons possible. Ramona went to the Hanauer class, in 1964 a grenade launcher cartridge exploded. A boy had brought the explosive and brought it down. Thirty children were seriously injured due to the explosion. Ramona got two splinters in the knee that could be removed. In 1969 she was discovered in Frankfurt am Main at a talent competition and recorded her first single.

The greatest success as a solo singer she had in 1971 entitled Everything we want on earth, which made it to number 8 on the German charts. Between 1970 and 1973 she was a frequent guest in the legendary ZDF hit parade. With everything we wanted on earth, she was the second woman after Manuela to succeed. During this time she was also several front places in the Otto election of the youth magazine Bravo the most popular singer occupy (1971: 5th place, 1972: 6th place, 1973: 9th place) and performed with her most successful song in the film comedy Aunt Trude from Buxtehude. After a last success with That knows heaven alone In 1973, her career suddenly stopped. None of the five singles she published until 1975 became a success. However, with a German version of Sugar Candy Kisses, an image change from the hit teenager to the attractive young woman started.
