Pupkulies & Rebecca is a German group that has been active in the field of Electronica and House since 2006.

story

While both Rebecca and Janosch Blaul were musically active in different genres in Würzburg, Sepp Singwald was already known in the Berlin indie scene. Janosch began studying in Berlin around 2001 and met Sepp Singwald there. In the meantime, Rebecca gained experience as a singer in hip-hop and jazz projects. She gained the attention of Janosch, from which in 2006 the founding of the band as well as the first album, The Way We, emerges. The album combines house beats with light vocals. Soon followed concerts in small clubs to Berlin.

In 2007, the trio released their second album, Beyond the Cage, which musically goes much further towards Indie and out of which the single Save Me is released. The vocals are in French and English and the beats are a bit weaker. From then on the band played at concerts and festivals all over Europe and the two members Rebecca and Janosch moved back to Würzburg. Their third album, Burning Boats, was released in 2009 and turns out to be a huge success.

Their fourth studio album called Looking for the Sea was released in 2012. The group toured the island of Maio in the Cape Verde Islands in 2013 to record an album with the local musician Tibau Tavares, which combines electronic and traditional Cape Verdean music. The film also produced a film called Momento - Pupkulies & Rebecca Play Cabo Verde, directed by Steffen Boseckert, which premiered in Berlin and Würzburg. The album Tibau is available since October 2013.
