- Two Steps from Hell は2006年にニック・フェニックス（英語版）とトマス・バーガーセン（英語版）によって設立されたアメリカのカリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスに拠点を構えるプロダクション・ミュージック会社である 。主に映画音楽やトレーラー・ミュージックを手がけ、『ハリー・ポッターシリーズ』や『パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン』、『X-メン』など映画のトラックを提供してきた。
歴史
Two Steps from Hellはトマス・バーガーセンとニック・フェニックスが映画予告編用の音楽を共同で作曲するために2006年に設立した。バーガーセンは2003年にノルウェーのトロンハイムからアメリカ合衆国のロサンゼルスに移り住んでいた。二人は2006年初頭に会社を立ち上げ、数百以上の映画広告用の楽曲と数千以上のテレビ広告用の楽曲を作曲した。ロンドンに生まれコネチカット州ニューヘイブンで育ったフェニックスは1997年から映画予告用の作曲の仕事を始め、ロサンゼルスで活動していた。
設立と初期の成功
Two Steps from Hellは主にトレーラー・ミュージック向けの楽曲を制作しているが、最近ではテレビ番組やゲームでも用いられている。 映画の予告編用の音楽で成功を収めている会社ではあったが、2010年5月に商業用アルバム・『Invincible』がリリースされるまでサウンド・トラックは一般に出回ることはなかった[要出典]。また、Invincibleはそのような幾つかのアルバムの中で初めて[要出典]iTunes Top 100 Soundtracksにランクインした[出典無効]。2014年7月現在、Two Steps from Hellは20枚のデモンストレーション用アルバムに加えて、一般向けアルバムを8つリリースし、それらを合わせると1000曲にのぼる。
2014年9月30日にリリースされたアルバム・『Sun』はバーガーセンが手掛けた2番目のソロアルバムである。アルバムから試聴用のトラックとしてCryとSunがリリースされ、前者はバーガーセンの公式ホームページより入手可能である。
「Sun」の公式ミュージックビデオはYouTube上で公開され、サイン付きの限定特装版CDには追加の楽曲とトーマスのコメントが含まれ、また彼のアートワークを特集した大判のポスターが含まれるとFacebookで先行して発表された。
さらに、2014年7月、Two Steps from Hellは「Colin Frake on Fire Mountain」として知られる電子書籍をリリースした。そしてそれは、フェニックスによって執筆された75,000語の小説で、イラストはOtto Bjornikが担当する。また、原譜もサウンド・トラックのリリースを通して入手可能になる。
