担任主唱也是乐团灵魂支柱的Florence Welch，自小受到爱音乐的父母影响，从7岁开始就在婚丧宴会中演出，11岁接受歌唱训练课程，虽然Florence有着“读写障碍”、“动作协调障碍”等问题，却不影响她追求音乐的热情和决心，在经过治疗后还可提笔撰写歌曲。由吉他手Robert Ackroyd、鼓手Christopher Lloyd Hayden、键盘手Isabella Summers和竖琴手Tom Monger等人建立起的The Machine，成为Florence幕后最大的支撑乐团。2007年组军完成，短短时间内就掳获许多人目光，2008年的“Kiss With A Fist”和“Dog Days Are Over”两支暖身作品，全部挤身英国金榜百大单曲之林。
尚未正式发行专辑时，Florence+The Machine，已率先获得2009年全英音乐“最佳乐评人奖”加冕，坐上BBC的“2009年潜力新人”名单第三名，NME除了力挺有加，更邀请参与 The NME Tours盛会，登上英伦年度超大型户外摇滚祭典Glastonbury、Reading & Leeds的舞台，The Guardian Guide赞誉：“Florence + The Machine的疯狂式艺术流行乐将成为2009年最美丽的声响”。2010年，推崇声浪从四面八方涌入，之后于2009年7月发行的首张大碟【Lungs】更风光拿下全英音乐奖 “Mastercard最佳专辑”大奖！
