【關於貓王】：
　　全名Elvis Aron Presley的貓王，1935年1月8日出生於美國南方的密西西比州一個叫Tupelo的小鎮，由於是獨子，貓王跟媽媽的感情特別好。鎮上有一間大教堂，從小貓王就常常去教堂報到，因為教學裡的福音歌曲深深地吸引貓王小小的心靈。11歲的生日時，熱愛音樂的貓王收到了他生平的第一把吉他，教學的牧師便教貓王彈吉他和弦，並讓貓王在教學裡演唱，持續接受福音樂聲的洗禮。

　　1948年秋，貓王一家從密西西比州的Tupelo鎮遷到田納西州的曼菲斯，此次搬家對貓王而言別具意義，因為此舉讓貓王得以在這個以黑人靈魂樂、節奏藍調為根源的城市，汲取與先前福音音樂截然不同的音樂養份，再加入白人的鄉村音樂，而形成他日後前所未有、獨樹一幟的音樂表演風格。

　　50年代初期，當時節奏藍調還被視為是黑人的音樂，只有黑人可以演奏演唱，壓根沒人想到要跨越黑白問題的藩籬。當時有一位經營太陽唱片公司的山姆菲利普先生，想要找一位可以將節奏藍調表現完美的白人，希望藉此將節奏藍調這種好音樂介紹給更多的人知道。於是他發掘了貓王，極力看好貓王那種截然不同既快又激動火力十足的詮釋歌曲方式，便與Elvis簽訂合約灌錄唱片，於是在1954年7月19日貓王發行了生平第一張單曲唱片『That's Alright,Mama』，山姆菲利普先生還親自帶著唱片驅車至各鄉鎮販售，反應熱烈，席捲了美國南部各州，貓王也就此開始他音樂版圖叱吒風雲的一生。

　　對於當時的病態青少年而言，貓王Elvis Presley提供了一個認同的指標。扭臀、抖腳極盡誇張的舞臺表演腳體動作、開敞的襯衫、喇叭褲、鬢角鴨尾頭、渾厚的嗓音…，集流行、娛樂、狂野、帥氣、性感於一身，貓王旋風更由美國一路蔓延遠飆至全世界，世界各地的青少年無不為之瘋狂，幻想自己就是貓王，那個在舞臺上渾然忘我盡情高歌搖擺的Elvis 。

　　記得曾經看過一篇有關於貓王的報導，有一段是這麼途述的：『我看到Elvis那麼有膽子地跳舞，熱愛音樂並誇張的扭著他的屁股，對我的幫助的確很大，如果他的內心如此自由，他可以這麼扭他的屁股，對我的幫助的確很大，如果他的內心如此自由，他可以這麼扭他的屁股，那麼，我也行啊！我想那時候每個青少年都想成為Elvis吧…』，『如果星期天下午的機車俱樂部聚會，沒有貓王搖滾樂的陪襯，那將會是多麼單調無聊啊！』，非常貼切的刻劃出當時貓王與搖滾樂的power，已經深值於青少年的日常生活當中，密不可分。

　　換言之，純就音樂而言，貓王帶動了搖滾樂的精神，展現了屬於年輕人的活力與單純樂觀的想法，藉由搖滾樂的吶喊喚起青少年的意識抬頭，形成一股不可忽視的青少年文化，他們企圖用音樂去改變現有的體制與世界，這股50年代因搖滾樂纔形成的青少年文化現象，將會與日俱增，持續延伸影響了60年代與起的熱門搖滾樂團披頭四與往後的民權運動，意義非凡。

　　時至今日，新的音樂形態，瞬息萬變，推陳出新，但貓王的神采依舊令世人懷念，他的音樂仍然是張張暢銷，曲曲動聽，而披頭四John Lennon就曾說過：『貓王雖然已經過世了，但搖滾樂不死，貓王萬歲！』
