With the release of 1998's ground breaking album, Visual Audio Sensory Theater, Jon Crosby and Vast had set the stage for great things to come. Fans included Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who called Vast 'one of the best debut albums I've heard in a long, long time. It hits you on so many levels. It's been a record I've been listening to over and over.' The single, 'Touched', was a top most requested in major markets such as LA, Chicago, Seattle and Denver. In 2000, the follow up album, Music For People, featured the songs 'Free', which cracked the Top 20 at Active and Modern and Rock formats, and 'I Don't Have Anything', which moved into the Top 40 at Modern. In the time leading up to the next release, Vast focused heavily on expanding the fan base with a series of innovative programs based around the Internet. The efforts paid off with the release of Nude. The album was an Amazon top seller the first week of release and additional efforts drove traffic to traditional retail. Unfortunately, the momentum build, which had been a hallmark of previous Vast releases, was stalled by the collapse of the releasing label. But that couldn't stop Jon Crosby and Vast. Bolstered by film and TV placements, Vast continued to build an extensive fan base via the Internet. In a pioneering move, Vast offered fans a chance to buy multiple tracks at a reduced price via digital download as a way to maintain and expand the fan base. And, while downloads have been successful, what has become clear is that Vast fans want the finished album. With the release of the double album, Turquoise and Crimson, Vast is again looking to for a wide release of music to an ever-expanding fan base. Standard Jewel Case.
