黯黑史诗（英语：Epica）是荷兰的交响金属乐团，2002年由前万世沉沦的吉他手马可·扬森组成。2003年透过传动唱片发行首张录音室专辑《魅影幻象》，2005年发行续作《物换星移》，登上荷兰专辑排行榜第12名。他们在传动唱片破产后改签给核爆唱片，并于2007年发行第三张专辑《完美阴谋》，登上荷兰专辑排行榜第9名。2009年第四张专辑《宇宙编年史》获得更大成功，登上荷兰专辑排行榜第8名，在许多欧洲邻国的排行榜上取得成绩，获得相当程度的好评。

乐团人声表现以优美的女性清腔搭配残暴的男性吼腔，交织出歌剧《美女与野兽》、天使与魔鬼般的鲜明冲突感，加上重金属乐手的侵略性和管弦乐团的恢弘气势，呈现十分浓郁的旋律性。乐团的音乐风格以倾向哥德金属的交响金属为主干，兼具一些死亡金属和旋律死亡金属的特征，电吉他演奏上则拥有鞭击金属和蛊戮金属特色的即兴重复段，爵士鼓的打击过门也有黑金属的味道。2005年之后，前卫金属的元素出现，并短暂浮现力量金属的段落与民谣金属的旋律。

黯黑史诗是倾向哥德金属的交响金属乐团，并在后期受到死亡金属的影响，逐渐融入了旋律死亡金属的元素。从第三张专辑开始，前卫金属的特征也开始变得明显。此外，他们也时常运用鞭击金属和蛊戮金属的即兴重复段、黑金属的过门、短暂浮现的力量金属段落和阿拉伯音乐。一些歌曲还有电子音乐元素、结构金属变调，以及源自中东、中国和凯尔特民谣金属的旋律。黯黑史诗也以优美厚实的女性古典唱腔著名，与富有侵略力量的金属乐互相交织，形成非常流行、容易掌握、气势恢弘、情感浓郁的复杂旋律。在乐团的人声表现中，席梦娜·西蒙斯和马可·扬森分别使用女性清腔和男性死腔，形成歌剧《美女与野兽》、天使与魔鬼般的冲突感。
