Sunshine Nights

American Folklore

I work hard each and every day. I work hard, get there early, stay late, for no extra pay. And at the end of the week I still got no money saved.
I remember my daddy's stories about them union days. Yes I remember my dad's stories about them old union days. Since them days disappeared I wonder how we let a few rich folk put us all to shame.
There aint nothing wrong with being the poor. It's just American folklore.
Yes that rich man would have us all believe that financial profit is the only way to succeed. Now it's getting harder and harder to find a place of bliss and grace in this capitalist rap.
Still that rich man, he only survive by the strength of the working men's hands holding him high. We need a little compassion and common place.
Cause there aint nothing wrong with being the poor. It's just American folklore.
