Tell Me Why the Stars Do Shine

Tell me why the stars do shine
Tell me why the ivy twines
Tell me why the sky's so blue
And then I'll tell you just why I love you

Because God made the stars to shine
Because God made the ivy twine
Because God made the sky's so blue
Because God made you, that's why I love you

Tell me why the stars do shine

Tell me why the ivy twines
Because God made the sky's so blue
Because God made you, that's why I love you

I really think that God above
Created you for me to love
He picked you out from all the rest
because He know I'd love you the best.

I sang this to my babies too. A beautiful nursery rhyme

I sang this song to all 3 of my babies. Over and over rocking away. When they were sick when I rocked them to sleep. Always always sang this song. Thank you so much for making it so beautiful. Holds such meaning to me now that all my babies are grown ages 44yrs 42yrs and 30yrs. But I still love this song. I always hold it dear to my heart.

I heard Garrison Keillor sing this song on His `Prairie Home Companion` radio show, with His audience, back in 1986. That Saturday night our Sunday school class had a Valentine day party, and we played a game that included asking us to say something romantic to our partners, and I used the words of this song. I guess my wife thought it was sweet, and 9 months later our 2nd son was born in November. Give it a try, maybe it`ll work for you too!

My high school English teacher used to sing this to the class at the end of every semester, in honor of a student of his that once passed away. He always ended it with “Have a nice break. Don’t die.”

I did too! We would sit on the front porch every single evening and sing this absolutely beautiful song. My little girl started singing along at age three, and we were still singing it when she was 12

Beautiful lullaby that a dear friend sent me.
