半夜裡他們叫聲連連，起初是害怕的。
但是漸漸習慣漸以後，就不怕了。
這叫聲由遠及近，火把也是越聚越多。
阿大跑在最前頭，是祭祀要開始了。
——遊記
After mid-night, some were yelling loudly. I was scared initially.

佛事官：大家人，要註意！迎佛會，六月七！
四面神風，八方先人。齊聚白馬，就是能界！
龍舟隊員：空堂打鐘，七七四十九！雛鳥三千，萬裡歸一處！

全村人就這般圍著篝火起舞，我也不知喝了多少酒，便倒在了草地上。
醒來之後，已是清晨，發現身在渡口，薄霧纏繞。
村民們蹤跡不見，四周萬籟具寂，毫無生氣。
難道說這幾日之遭遇，乃是南柯一夢？
只是這酒家送的葫蘆兒卻還在，腰間懸掛。
——遊記
The entire village was like this, dancing around the campfire. I did not recall how much I drank before I fell asleep on the grassland.
When I woke up, it was already dawn. I found myself lying at the ferry crossing. Fog floated across the place.
There was no trace of the villagers. It was absolutely quiet and lifeless.
Could it be that the trip in these days was nothing but a wonder dream?
Only then I noticed the gourd given by the restaurant owner, which was still hanging there on my waist.
