由主唱/吉他/貝斯/鼓全包的全才美姑娘 Katie White 和鼓手/合聲的 Jules De Martino 二人所組成 The Ting Tings，擁有絕對偶像外型的 Katie 和Jules，都在他們年輕歲月中網羅至泡泡糖流行隊伍裡頭洗禮過。Katie 幫 Steps、Five 等團唱過開場，卻沒受到任何唱片公司的賞識，Jules 則擺脫商業束縛轉戰獨立搖滾界。曾經與朋友共組三人團體 Dear Eskiimo，簽至 Mercury Records 旗下，因為製作理念和樂曲方向彼此的衝突，最後仍淪落解約的命運。仍不放棄理想的 Katie 與 Jules，在2006 年成立 The Ting Tings，開始替一些私人派對獻唱，精采的表演贏得樂迷好評，就連入選美國時代雜誌「百大全球最具影響力人物」的製作大師 Rick Rubin ( U2、嗆辣紅椒、強尼凱許)，都聞風而至尋求進場門票！
在一次偶然的創作中誕生的作品「Great DJ」成為了 The Ting Tings 第一首廣受歡迎的作品。後來 The Ting Tings 將自己的另一首作品「That's Not My Name」和「Great DJ」收錄在一起發行了樂隊的第一張單曲「Great DJ」，由於經費的緊張，這張單曲只印製了 500 張，結果首批發行很快就銷售一空，並且這張單曲在英國的限量發行版也登上了 NME（英國著名音樂雜誌）的“本周單曲”；而 The Ting Tings 掛在 Myspace 上的作品也得到了廣泛的關注，被 MySpace 註冊成員流覽超過 170 萬次。
在獨立音樂界的成功使 The Ting Tings 開始得到主流音樂界的注目：他們被 BBC 評為 “ 2008 年十大必看”榜單中的第三名，在 BBC 一年一度的音樂調查“2008 的聲音”中這樣評論到：“他們現在已經成為了獨立音樂團體中最可靠和最受讚譽的一隊。”之後他們又得到 SONY BMG 旗下 Columbia 唱片的賞識，並與其簽約。隨後 The Ting Tings 帶著他們的音樂開始登陸美國，沿著美國的海岸開始一系列的巡演；之後樂隊的第一張大碟『We Started Nothing』也隨即誕生。
