- 約翰傳奇（英語：John Legend，1978年12月28日－），原名約翰·史提芬斯（John Stephens）是位9次奪得格萊美獎的R&B唱作人和鋼琴家。首張專輯《Get Lifted》在2004年發行，獲得白金銷量的佳績。其專輯是與著名製作人和說唱歌手肯伊·威斯特和Snoop Dogg合作。正因為首張專輯的成功，他事業上得到更多機會與知名的歌手合作。
生平
家庭中的音樂氛圍，對於約翰傳奇日後走向音樂方面產生了重要的作用。他的家裡有一台鋼琴，因此約翰在五歲時就開始利用這台鋼琴學著練習彈奏歌曲。八九歲時，他就已經開始在當地的一些教堂里為教堂唱詩班進行鋼琴伴奏。通過奶奶教授給他的一些福音音樂歌曲，不久之後約翰傳奇已經開始獨立的演奏歌曲了。
高中時期，約翰已經開始錄製一些小型唱片。他後來開始聽一些Jodeci、BoyzIIMen與LL Cool J的音樂，這些音樂對他後來的個人音樂風格也產生一定的影響。16歲以後，他離開家鄉進入賓夕法尼亞大學主修英文專業，在這裡除了學習之外，他依然活躍於音樂場合，經常在學校的一些才藝演出上表演。在費城外的 Bethel A.M.E.教堂，他成為了教堂唱詩班的導演，他在這所教堂擔任唱詩班導演長達九年，直到他發片前的幾個月才停止。
1998年，他已經開始在知名黑人女歌手羅倫·希爾（Lauryn Hill）的《Everything Is Everything》中進行鋼琴演奏。2002年，約翰傳奇已經廣泛的開始與肯伊·威斯特一起工作，也開始出現在一些大牌明星的專輯中。
2003年，John Legend參加了艾麗西亞·基斯的專輯《Diary Of Alicia Keys》主打單曲《You Don't Know My Name》的錄製，又先後參加Jay-Z《The Black Album》、黑眼豆豆《Elephunk》與Twista《Kamikaze》等多張暢銷專輯的錄製，還出現在珍娜·傑克森與瑪麗·布萊姬等人的單曲錄製中。
2003年底，肯伊·威斯特把表現出色的約翰傳奇正式簽入了自己的唱片公司，並且先後於2003年和2004年初發行了他的現場專輯《Live at SOB's New York City》和《Solo Sessions Vol. 1: Live at the Knitting Factory》。隨著威斯特首張個人專輯《College Dropout》的成功，約翰傳奇更是受到了威斯特進一步的發掘。
2004年12月28日，在威斯特的打造下，約翰傳奇的首張錄音室專輯《Get Lifted》正式發行。
約翰與模特兒克莉絲汀·泰根在經過七年交往後，於2011年12月訂婚，並在2013年9月14日於義大利科莫結婚
2015年2月22日，與Common合作《逐夢大道》（Selma）電影歌曲「Glory」於第87屆奧斯卡金像獎獲得最佳原創歌曲獎。
2016年參與美國歌舞電影《愛樂之城》，飾演Keith，並演唱插曲《Start A Fire》
