散發陰鬱特質的好萊塢搖滾美型男「傑瑞德列托Jared Leto」，這位多次榮獲People雜誌選為「全球50位最美麗人物」的新生代男星，可說是影壇當中，最勇於嚐試不同富有挑戰角色的實力派小生。而 Jared Leto對藝術表演的熱忱，不只限於戲劇演出，更展現在音樂上面。就在1998年，由Jared擔任主音、哥哥Shannon Leto擔任鼓手，所成立的超悍EMO樂團「30秒上火星30 Seconds To Mars」，順利在2002推出首張同名專輯《30 Seconds To Mars》，這張勇奪熱門潛力榜冠軍的作品，讓大家見識到Leto兄弟的不容小覷的音樂才華。於2005年發表的第二張專輯《美麗謊言A Beautiful Lie》再度開出銷售紅盤，及滿獲樂評盛讚的好成績，專輯果然不負眾望勇奪白金唱片的認證。實力與偶像特質兼具的30 Seconds To Mars，出道之後，更累計榮獲12座MTV音樂大獎、六座搖滾指標大獎Kerrang! Awards、三座TRL Awards、三座Fuse Awards…的大獎提名肯定。
距離上一張專輯，已有將近兩年的時間，Jared Leto（主唱、吉他、創作）、Shannon Leto（鼓手）、Tomo Miličević（吉他）三人再度集合，帶來第三張專輯《全面開戰This Is War》展現出全新氣象！新作特地請出英國教父級音樂人Flood（Depeche Mode、U2、The Killers），以及葛萊美獎製作人Steve Lillywhite（Matchbox Twenty、Travis、Jason Mraz）兩大天王級製作人，共同編織嶄新的搖滾樂章。在蓄勢待發的氣氛中，弦樂營造出詭異氣氛，童音環繞合唱，宣示著奮戰決心，開場曲〈Escape〉吹響了戰爭號角；撥雲見日混沌漸開，首發單曲〈Kings And Queens〉在打擊樂的堆疊之下，無私地貫注滿滿的搖滾勇氣；專輯同名單曲〈This Is War〉，在來自全世界歌迷的共同合作之下，同聲一呼高舉殺戮旗幟，戰場裡有令人耳目一新的電子元素及弦樂助陣，更添壯烈激昂情緒，這首歌更被EA Game年度大作「闇龍紀元Dragon Age」選為主題曲；陽光灑落在〈100 Suns〉身上，簡單的音樂配器，輕唱著的動人詞句，實為感人小品；〈Vox Populi〉滿載著勇氣與衝勁，是首新時代的搖滾軍歌；琴音在Jared Leto小心翼翼的聲線中迴盪，〈Alibi〉的心痛還是藏不住，暈染成一片；電子顆粒如濤浪狂奔，抵擋不住的威力隨著音符穿梭，在〈Closer to the Edge〉的胸口濺射出的朵朵絢麗浪花；將近七分鐘的〈Stranger in a Strange Land〉氣勢磅礡奇異，專輯末曲〈L49〉呢喃著咒語悼文，在前往火星之際，彷彿預告著樂團下一個未知方向。
Brothers who start bands tend to fall out at some point (think Oasis), but Jared and Shannon Leto seem to have found something to not only bring siblings together, but a legion of fans.
Not wanting to use his Hollywood fame to help the band, Jared Leto has made it clear that the band comes first.
30 Seconds to Mars have been winning awards left right and centre, including winning Fuse's 'Best of 2007' award against Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold.
For their latest album, This is War, the band organised 'The Summit', a gathering for fans as part of their recording process. Encouraging fans for their input, the band included the almost thousand fans who turned up from around the world to sing a chorus. Kanye West also collaborated on the track 'Hurricane'.
The new album brings the group back to the sound familiar to their self-titled album, and will strike the right chords for fans of the band.
