个人生活
埃及开罗出生于亚美尼亚的父母，于1958年在埃及移民到加拿大，最初在安大略省多伦多定居。他的母亲在亚美尼亚诗人Raffi之后给他命名。他的父亲Arto Cavoukian是著名的肖像摄影师，在多伦多的Bloor Street有一个工作室。他的哥哥Onnig Cavoukian被称为“Cavouk”，也是著名的肖像摄影师。他的妹妹是安省前信息和私隐专员安·卡武尤。他的父母在十二小时内相互死亡，母亲先死于腹部癌症。
