怀旧女郎成军于 2006 年，团员包括了乡村歌手“Linda Davis”的女儿“Hillary Scott”（女主唱╱词曲创作），创作型歌手“Josh Kelly”的弟弟“Charles Kelly”（男主唱╱词曲创作），以及他同校好友“Dave Haywood”（和声╱乐器演奏）。乐团在 2007 年七月与 Capitol 唱片公司签约，同一年，乐团获邀在钢琴音乐家“Jim Brickman”的抒情畅销曲“Never Alone”担任演唱，还为 MTV 频道的实境影集【The Hills (比佛利拜金女)】跨刀创作插曲“Miles Away”，乐团的首张同名专辑‘Lady Antebellum’于 2008 年春季登场，乐团在专辑中将流行乡村音乐、与 1960 年代的节奏蓝调乐风做调和，然后再配搭女声主唱、男女合唱、重唱等多样的演唱方式，带来不同的听觉趣味，他们以此张专辑成为自 1964 年以来，第一组以首张专辑、随即空降乡村专辑榜冠军的乐团。首张专辑同时抢进全美流行专辑榜 Top 4，专辑中的单曲“I Run To You”不但登上乡村榜冠军，同时也打进热门单曲榜 Top 40。乐团在 2009 年入围葛莱美奖“最佳新进艺人”，随后更以“I Run To You”一曲赢得 2010 年葛莱美“最佳乡村乐团演唱”奖项肯定！

怀旧女郎在 2010 年获得葛莱美奖加持后，趁势推出第二张专辑‘Need You Now’，专辑里头的首支单曲“Need You Now”，描述一对已经分手的恋人、难掩心中对于情感的渴望，在午夜时分于对方答录机上、所留下的心情告白。这首歌曲引起全美乐迷热烈回响，蝉连全美抒情榜与电台点播榜双料冠军，单曲更获三白金销售认证！整张专辑就如同首发单曲的感觉，均衡地揉合了流行摇滚乐的热力、与乡村民谣的动人情感。其实“Hillary Scott”、“Charles Kelly”与“Dave Haywood”三人，在过去四年来、几乎是每天聚在一起，不是一起写歌、就是一起巡回演唱，所以当他们在筹录这张专辑时，彼此在歌曲创作过程中、互动更加紧密，经常可以在歌曲的情感创作层面上，达到近乎心有灵犀一般的共鸣，甚至还会在写歌空档中，针对每一个人在情感方面所遇到的问题进行讨论，宛如像是小型情感咨询聚会。

专辑请到纵横纳许维尔乐界超过 30 年，曾经以“The Dixie Chicks”乐团的 1998 年专辑 ‘Wide Open Spaces’与 1999年专辑‘Fly’、两度获得葛莱美制作人大奖的 Paul Worley，掌舵制作。首发冠军单曲“Need You Now”勾勒出分手情人在渴望与绝望间的思念地带，此外，专辑里还有描述从过往的回忆之中、找到足以唤醒人生的智慧的最新动人抒情单曲“American Honey”。

2012年在第54届葛莱美奖上，他们以《We Own The Night》获得了最佳乡村专辑奖。
