- 73年出生于美国北加州、本名Josh Davis的DJ Shadow，成长于摇滚乐兴盛的八○年代﹔当其他同龄青少年热衷于学习吉他、贝斯、鼓等主流乐器时，醉心于嘻哈音乐的他独树一帜的选择钻研唱盘与混音机的操作技巧。大学时期，他开始在学校电台发表创作并自制发行mix tapes，逐渐在地下乐界打响名号。’96年，DJ Shadow推出大秀取样拼贴创意的首张专辑《Entroducing》，引起各方热烈回响，Muzik杂志大力推崇为“有史以来最棒的舞曲专辑”、Mojo杂志亦评选为史上最佳专辑之一。2002年，DJ Shadow祭出《The Private Press》专辑，空降英国舞曲榜冠军并缔造多首排行单曲销售佳绩，与入列2002年滚石杂志年度50大最佳专辑的专业乐评肯定，再度证明他高超的创作、制作和混音功力。
